These really are beautiful creatures and I love the way they move it's soooo cool! Yes, these are my hands (getting good at this aren't I?)
We let the larger of the two snakes (approx 18mos) climb around in our plants for a bit this morning. It's truly amazing to watch how easily they move around. It was also amazing to realize how quickly they can disappear! They are very adept at finding a perfect hiding spot and hiding very quickly so we'll have to be very careful! This guy loved the bin full of Thomas trains she started to bury herself so we put her back in her tank where she could burrow in some soft hemp instead!
I'm sure that you'll be seeing lot's more of these guys, as I love to photograph them! Enjoy!
Daelin becoming acquainted with his new pet.
Mommy and her new "baby". I still have to get used to this idea. I don't mind handling them as long as Richard gets them out of the tank. Maybe in time I'll become a professional snake handler!
This little snake is about 8 months old and is quite beautiful. Unfortunately he was quite hungry when we took him out this morning and thought that Daelin's ear lobe looked like a nice snack. Dad rescued him and no harm was done but..it has given Daelin a healthy respect for the snakes, which is a good thing!
Clio was right there checking out the new additions. She doesn't quite know what to make of all this.
California King Snakes! Yes I said snakeS. Much to my suprise, they came home with 2 instead of one. They HAD to get one for Kaeleb too! Daelin picked the black & white one for him and the white one for Kaeleb. They have yet to be named. We are open to suggestions so if anyone has any names please email them to me at my regular email address.
Here we are ready to go trick or treating. Daelin is a dragon (norbert from Harry Potter), Kaeleb is a Unicorn and I'm Hagrid (I know I look more like Fidel Castro but it give me an "E" for effort ok??
Daelin go to be star of the day at school on October 31. Part of being the star of the day is bringing home Benjamin Bear and doing things with him. Then you make an entry into a journal which is shared with the class. It's a way for the kids (and teacher) to get to know each other. So we took BB out with us, he was dressed as "Super Bear!"
We have some neighbours up the street who are Halloween fanatics! Their house is the best! Funny enough their name is The Adams Family (not kidding). This year Eva outdid herself, she had a witch's cauldron complete with dry ice set up inside a black gazebo with pumpkins and the works. The kids had to go inside to get their candy!

Now comes the fun part, cleaning the pumpkins. It always amazes me how different Daelin & Kaeleb are. Daelin used a spoon and very carefully (making sure he didn't get any "guts" on his hands) spooned out the seeds and left me to do the messy part). Kaeleb on the other hand would have climbed right into the tub (even the pumpkin) to get at that fun icky stuff!
